Direct to garment technique is used for high quality printing.
Direct to garment printing (DTG) is a new process for printing on the cloth
which allows full colour printing direct onto the garment without the need for
screens, transfer or sublimation techniques.
DTG printers are garment printers which, are at the very fundamental level,
an ink jet printer usually based on traditional printer principle and they work
in the same way as the one that sits on the desk printing demands. A tray holds
a platen onto which the t-shirt is placed and which then moves under the
print-head similar to the way paper moves through a printer.
It is a best substitute to standard screen printing whereby screens have to
be made before the print can be started. It's a good alternative to transfer
printing whereby initial quantities often need to be larger in order to make
them more cost effective.
Direct to garment technique can be used on white and dark garments. And for
this printing there is no require screen. Artwork that is readable available
and high resolution jpeg images can easily print. Once set up even print
quality. Fantastic detail can be achieved from very complex designs and it is
possible for dtg. Print area is for A3 which is great for user.
There are some major breakthroughs:
The first major breakthrough was that of printing onto 100% cotton
The second major breakthrough was the development of white ink, making it
possible to print onto any colour of Shirt.
Advise White 100% Cotton T-Shirts as the best medium. But Sweatshirts and
Polo shirt can also be successful. The key is to test each garment until you
are happy with the print finish.
The quality of a DTG print is amazing! Since the print process uses CMYK
inks, the color range is almost limitless. The print itself is very lively and
has great detail. Direct to Garment Printing can create high quality gradients
and photos because it is a continuous tone process. There are no halftone dots
or screens used to simulate shades of color. Because of this, blends and photos
are smooth and detailed in appearance. Screen printing would use a line screen
resolution up to about 72 dpi. With DTG printing we can produce prints using
1440 dpi resolution!
This includes: T-shirts, bags (all types), hoodies/fleece , performance
apparel, umbrellas, portfolios, camping chairs, jackets, pants/jeans, hats,
koozies, sneakers, CD cases, lunch bags, coolers, polo shirts, neckties, seat
cushions, leather/leatherette car interiors, robes, pillow cases, shorts,
uniforms, golf bags, luggage, briefcases. On the whole anything made of fabric
that you can fit onto the heat press.
Direct to garment is appropriate for Hen and Stag night events, corporate
events, charity events, small companies requiring short run printing full color
logos, promotional events, magazine launches, sports tours, children clubs, fun
gifts for surprise parties, etc.
This process has some drawbacks. Fro the best print quality, it is better to
use the single head machines, hence the process is slower and the job takes
longer, colored T-shirts need to be pre treated, the initial artwork needs to
be of good enough quality.
This state of the art process allows for millions of colors and shades to be
applied on the item. This printing process is perfect for photo t-shirts, high
color designs and images with intricate detail. There is no minimum order to
print with this technique so feel free to order 1 shirt or as many as desired.
