Enjoy Wine from South Africa, New Zealand and AustraliaWine is a drink that is enjoyed world wide, with certain parts of the
globe gaining a reputation for producing excellent quality produce.
From the countries mentioned in our title, perhaps Australia is the
most famous but we must not discount New Zealand or South Africa since
they too have some excellent vineyards.Historically, all three
of these countries have been producing wines for hundreds of years.
South Africa has the oldest vineyards, dating back to 1659. Australia
and New Zealand on the other hand both started producing wine in
colonial times around about the early to mid 1800's. South
Africa for instance, started its first recorded wine production in the
mid 1600's. The Constantia estate was one of the first vineyards and
gained a favourable reputation for the production of fine wine. Enjoyed
as an accompaniment to South African food, South African wine has been
enjoyed by influential leaders such as Frederick the Great and
Napoleon. Today there are approximately 75 varieties of grape in South
Africa producing wine.Australian wine on the other hand is
widely known for being the fourth largest wine exporter worldwide and
as such, is responsible for many of our favourite wines. Both,
Australian food and drink has permeated into other countries and
cultures as a firm favourite. The main varieties of grape used
throughout Australia are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot,
Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillon. Australian wines have won many
awards throughout the years and are seen as one of the world's best
growers.New Zealand is perhaps not as well known for its wine
production as the others but as with Australia, New Zealand started
making wine in colonial times. Wine production has grown steadily over
the years and in fact in recent times that increase has been dramatic.
Critics have even hailed the Marlborough region in New Zealand as the
best place to grow Sauvignon Blanc grapes. New Zealand food and wine
has a lot to offer for anyone interested in wine. All of these
countries export wine across the world and they have proven to be
popular here in the UK too. Good news then for anyone living here,
whether native to the country or an expatriate. Obviously, buying a
wine originating from your home country gives you a taste of those
things you find familiar and comforting. For someone who has never
tried the wine before, you get to experience something new.It
is important to remember that no matter whether you are buying a wine
for a special occasion or just to enjoy for yourself there are some
fantastic wines from all three of these countries. Each one has their
own 'specialities' as different climates lend themselves better to
certain grapes. Arguably, Australia is the best known of them but wines
from South Africa and New Zealand should not be discounted.Whatever
wine, whatever region, you might find that trying a wine from one of
these countries opens up a world of new experiences. Not only that, but
you might even surprise yourself by finding a wine that tastes
fantastic. Therefore, only one more thing remains. Where do you go to
find some of these exciting wines? Well, the answer is easy,
www.sanza.co.uk of course!
