The American
tennis player of 27 years old, Serena Williams, was very successful in
her first game of the Australian Open by beating the Chinese Yuan Meng
6-3, 6-2 this Tuesday at the Rod Laver Arena. Her game performance was
slower than usual due to the heated weather conditions of the early
afternoon, but she did really well even with the high temperatures of
this summer at Melbourne.
The 21-year-old
Scottish, Andy Murray, proclaimed himself the champion of the Qatar
Open this past weekend by beating Andy Roddick 6-4, 6-2 in the final.
This became his sith victory in 8 matches with the American. The
Scottish played un great way this tournament and has improved
consitently in his game.
Former tennis
player of 37 years-old Pete Sampras, competed in London at the seniors
tournament that was held last week at the Robert Albert Hall, were he
didn't reach Sunday's finals due to the fact that he was defeated by
the French Cedric Pioline on Saturday's match 7-6 (7), 7-6 (5).
The Spanish team
defeated in an amazing way the host team Argentina at the Davis Cup and
captured their third title in a decade. Fernando Verdasco won the
tournament final on Sunday when he beat in 3 hours and 56 minutes the
Argentinean Jose Acasuso in five sets 6-3, 6-7(3), 4-6, 6-3, 6-1,
giving Spain a 3-1 lead and the title of the Davis Cup.
As we all know,
