The Film Experience at Home
For many years, watching a movie on television was definitely
second-choice to watching it in a theater. Not so long ago, most
theaters featured very large screens, great sound and wonderful seating
and snacks. Today, more often than not, you not only get great sound
quality for your movie, but some of the sound from the movie in the
next theater over, as well; you get seats that couldn't comfortably fit
any adult; and you get snacks that are extravagant only in price.
Fortunately, as the theater experience has degraded, the home theater
experience has improved.
Subscription television services offer many different ways to see
the latest films, very soon after they've been released. With the
ever-dropping prices of home theater equipment providing motivation,
many consumers have chosen to take their films at home, at their own
leisure, without all the expenses and hassles that come with going to
the theater.
Satellite television offers the latest releases in the best possible
format and is a natural choice for those looking for a subscription
service worthy of a home theater. Cable television, which has been
losing customers to satellite consistently over the past several years,
simply cannot compete with what satellite has to offer.
First, there are far more choices on satellite. Premium movie
channels, pay per view and on-demand programming all offer different
ways to access great entertainment. These channels do not lag far
behind the theaters in acquiring the newest films and, quite often,
they offer classic material which is still a great joy to watch.
Satellite broadcasts in digital which means that the picture quality
is excellent and that the reception is generally flawless. For those
with high definition televisions, cable does not offer nearly as many
selections in high definition from which to choose and their picture
quality, in general, is not as sharp. Add to this that cable is a
"grid" system where the reception of any one subscriber's signal is
dependent upon the entire grid being functional and it's easy to see
that cable is simply not as reliable.
Setting up a home theater is great fun and, owing to the price of
technology always dropping, is no longer a particularly expensive
endeavor. Simply adding satellite television is a great enhancement to
any viewer's equipment and, with satellite, the equipment required to
connect is free!
As theaters and cable companies follow the same old, tired trend of
reducing services, quality and, at the same time, raising their rates,
satellite is well-positioned to become the standard in how people get
their entertainment. Given that over 20 million consumers have chosen
to subscribe to satellite already, it would seem that cable and
theaters have already suffered because of what satellite has to offer.
Taking advantage of it yourself is a very easy affair. The equipment
you need will be provided, the dish is very small and the whole
installation will be handled by experienced technicians. Unlike cable,
the satellite company won't charge you for hookup, either.
