Of course, cable
and satellite TV are getting the last laugh out of the whole D-TV
debacle. While many Americans will be waiting impatiently for the
digital conversion, and the postponement, and the reactivation of the
coupon program, satellite and cable subscribers will be sitting pretty
with remote in hand and hundreds of digital channels to choose from.
Televised sports
used to be the compromise when someone couldn't get to a game or get
tickets in time. Of all the sports, perhaps baseball has the most
romanticized place in our hearts. Maybe it's the fact that the season
runs during the most beautiful months of the year or maybe it's the way
the game moves between laid-back, entertaining action to
edge-of-your-seat moments that can decide a game. Whatever makes it
work so well, baseball has always been and likely always will be one of
the most beloved professional sports.
If you've decided
to hook up satellite television, you'll soon be learning to operate a
few new pieces of equipment that will make your experience much more
enjoyable. None of these devices are difficult to use and, best of all,
the most complex of the devices are installed by the satellite
company's personnel.
For many years,
watching a movie on television was definitely second-choice to watching
it in a theater. Not so long ago, most theaters featured very large
screens, great sound and wonderful seating and snacks. Today, more
often than not, you not only get great sound quality for your movie,
but some of the sound from the movie in the next theater over, as well;
you get seats that couldn't comfortably fit any adult; and you get
snacks that are extravagant only in price. Fortunately, as the theater
experience has degraded, the home theater experience has improved.
Sometimes, the
best way to spend a weekend is at home. It's always easier to relax in
one's own environment and having nothing to do can be a truly glorious
feeling. Deciding how to pass one's time in an enjoyable way is
generally the only question and, if one has satellite, that question is
easy enough to answer.
